Avi Hindi

38 years old at the time of his death
24.10.1985-7.10.2023

"A man of laughter, hikes and lush nature; a people person; a helper at heart and a man of good deeds; a man of joy and, above all, a family man."

Avi met his wife Shahar during his reserve duty in Operation Protective Edge. Avi and Shahar had 3 children: Itamar, Omer, and Rotem.
Avi was the deputy military security coordinator of kibbutz Kfar Aza and was killed while fighting against terrorists who had taken over the kibbutz.
Avi was very fond of nature, hiking, and sports. He was a real people person who loved helping those in need. He was a happy and funny man, always in action, who loved to work and never sat still for a moment. A talented individual, he built, repaired, and renovated everything himself.
Above all, Avi was a family man—a wonderful husband, an extraordinary father, an amazing son, and a man loved by everyone around him.
On October 7, 2023, a Sabbath that was supposed to be full of joy and celebration, Avi left the kibbutz early in the morning to pick up and bring home a fellow kibbutz member from his morning walk. In hindsight, it saved that man’s life. He then joined the community security squad, and fought to defend their home. Avi was killed in an ambush by terrorists near the kibbutz’s weaponry. In his last words, he managed to send his love to Shahar.
