Omer Hermesh
48 year old at the time of his death
23.6.1975-7.10.2023
"Without to be or not to be,
I simply am,
Without anything worthwhile
Dying for.
Without hope and without despair,
I'm just watching
Like a tourist at this world,
And it's so beautiful."
A wonderful son, a great brother, an amazing uncle, a special friend, a man who always spoke words that were true to his heart.
Omer was full of light, colorful and unique, a person you simply can’t ignore.
His family, his dog Tzvi, Hapoel Tel Aviv, truth, soccer with seniors, Kfar Aza, puns, Playstation, weed, records, crazy laughter, amazing humor, phenomenal memory, a child’s innocence, working with children, compassion, people, sharp-tongued, opinionated, direct, pure hearted and full of love – these are just some of the things that defined his special personality.
Among his many provocative views, Omer loved to talk about conspiracy theories, the main one being “the Israel Corporation”. It’s no wonder that in one of his last messages on October 7, he actually referred to it and wrote: “I won’t leave my home because of a war that was manufactured by the Israel Corporation”. He strongly opposed the “War on Covid”, and was against vaccinations, “shots”, “mouth rags” and the “green pass”.
On the morning of the Black Saturday, Omer was injured, managed to upload a Facebook post, and then lost touch. 11 difficult and nerve-wrecking days later, we were notified that he was murdered during the brutal October 7 terror attack, and we have been missing him ever since…
“My life is here. When I finish a work day, I take a bottle of beer, play one of my records and enjoy every second… I don’t want to live anywhere else in Israel, other than Kfar Aza.”
