Yizhar Peled
62 years old at the time of his death
25.2.1961-7.10.2023
"A father, grandfather, husband, and great leader."
He served the State of Israel throughout his life in various roles in the IDF and Israel Border Police.
In his last position, he was the commander of the Jerusalem Border Police and the West Bank Border Police.
His characteristic high moral standards, dedication to his mission, and his integrity made him a revered commander, whose reputation will forever precede him.
He was a pillar to those around him - one who gave confidence, always knew what was right and proper, and could see into the heart of the person before him. With deep generosity and a characteristic humbleness, he helped from behind the scenes, donating quietly to those in need and giving unconditionally to the ones he loved.
After his retirement, he took up cycling, became a hobbyist carpenter, and devoted his time and heart to his family and grandchildren.
He died a hero on Saturday morning, fighting terrorists in the safe room of his home, in an attempt to protect his wife, Gila, and son, Daniel.
A man like no other.
